The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth’s recycling program is now managed by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in Nova Scotia. The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth made changes to their spring/fall cleanup collections to serve you better. Here are the changes effective April 1, 2020:
These items will be included for pick up with your regular garbage every two weeks. Please limit quantities.
Household furniture
Mattresses (rolled/tied when possible)
Rugs/carpets (must be rolled/tied in manageable sizes/weights)
Toilets, porcelain sinks, porcelain bathtubs
These items will now be picked up three times per year on Fridays based on your regular collection day (April, June, November – schedule listed above)
Metals
White goods/appliances
BBQs
Oil Tanks (must be cut in half)
Residents who normal collection is Monday – 1st Friday in April, June & November
Residents who normal collection is Tuesday – 2nd Friday in April, June & November
Residents who normal collection is Wednesday – 3rd Friday in April, June & November
Residents who normal collection is Thursday – 4th Friday in April, June & November

Items NOT accepted for curbside pickup include but are not limited to:
ALL construction/renovation/demolition debris
Explosives, combustibles, or toxic material
Lobster traps
Ride-on lawnmowers
Propane tanks
Car bodies, batteries and heavy car parts
Household hazardous wastes & motor oil
Electronics included in the EPRA recycling program(ex. TVS, VCRs, computers, microwaves . .)
Paint & empty cans
Garden & yard waste
