The Town of Yarmouth is making improvements to the curbside solid waste collection program. The changes will come into effect starting on January 1st, 2010. Residents are asked to make use of these special waste collection services. This will enable this waste to be collected in a more efficient manner by spreading the quantities throughout the year.

Residential Clean-Up Waste – Will be collected on your regular garbage day
Carpeting & Sheet flooring (cut & rolled)
Furniture – such as chesterfields, chairs, & dressers
Mattresses & foundations
Small appliances
Non-reusable clothing & plastic toys

Metals & White Goods – Last Friday of each month
ONE major appliance or white good such as an electric stove, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, clothes dryer, washer, hot water heaters, dehumidifiers, water coolers, & metals such as bed frames, barbeques, bicycle frames, & lawn mowers.

Waste Wood – First Friday of each month from April to November (excluding holidays)
Limited quantities of waste wood will be collected up to ½ cubic yard in volume (ie: 3’X3’X1.5’). It does not include demolition materials from major renovation projects (ie: roofing materials, decks, sheds, etc.) It does include left over wood from handyman crafts/projects, wooden pallets, wooden work benches/tables/saw horses, outdoor wooden furniture.

Brush, Branches, & Leaves – Regular Organic Day
Tree branches, brush, or excess leaves and yard waste can be placed alongside of your Green Cart. Branches should be tied or bundled in arm load sizes and not to exceed 5 bundles per pickup. Leaves should be bagged in clear plastic bags or heavy paper bags up to a limit of 20 bags.

Construction & Demolition debris will not be collected.

Collection of your waste will only be affected by a holiday if the holiday falls on the collection day. Please refer to your calendar for alternate pick-up dates, the Vanguard, or call WasteCo at 742-3490.

The following WILL NOT be accepted for collection:
- Construction & demolition debris*
- Combustible materials (gasoline, furnace or diesel fuel)
- Car bodies and heavy car parts
- Liquid wastes
- Car batteries (accepted at your local Enviro Depot)
- Household hazardous wastes such as corrosive cleaners and solvents, strong acids and alkalines, house and garden pesticides and herbicides. (accepted at the HHW Depot located at the Transfer Station for proper disposal.)
- Automotive tires (must be de-rimmed and may be dropped off at your tire retailer)
- Propane tanks (may be dropped off at the Transfer Station.)
- Paint and solvents may be dropped off at the Enviro Depot or Transfer Station for proper disposal.
- Lobster traps
- Oil tanks (check with your local heating oil contractor)
- E-WASTE (televisions, computers, monitors, printers, telephones, DVD & VCR players, wireless devises, personal audio/video systems, car audio systems, computer scanners, and fax machines) These items must have no broken glass
and can be dropped off at Paper Chase Bottle Exchange Ltd. at 236 D Water Street, 742-9747.

- Fiberglass insulation & Styrofoam
- Built up tar & gravel roofing
- Vinyl siding
- Ceiling tiles

- Windows, patio doors with frames etc.
- Concrete and asphalt paving
- Bricks and concrete blocks
